Deep Cut's implementation in Splatoon 3's story was especially distinct from past idols and showed that Nintendo was not shy about going in new directions with idols.

The idols of the Splatoon series have become icons in the game's fanbase, particularly for always being implemented smartly into the series' single-player stories. This fan also made a locker designed after series antagonist DJ Octavio, who has appeared as a boss in each Splatoon game. They also included decorations gained from finding Sunken Sea Scrolls, some of which give insight into the background of Deep Cut's members. They went the extra mile by adding some characters' in-game outfits, such as the Splatoon 3 amiibo gear for Pearl and Marina's lockers. The fan who designed these lockers made them using Photoshop and a website that allows fans to make custom Splashtags. Splatoon 3 players are able to accessorize their lockers using decorations earned from Hotlantis and from accomplishing certain single-player goals such as finding Sunken Sea Scrolls in Splatoon 3's Alterna. Reddit user d1edr took it upon themselves to imagine what each idol's in-game locker would look like by designing lockers based on each of them, complete with character-specific gear, colors, and Splashtags. Outside announcing multiplayer stages and representing teams during Splatfest, the Splatoon series' idols do not make any appearances in multiplayer. They also act as principal characters in each game's story, with the Squid Sisters being the main characters in the single-player modes of Splatoon and Splatoon 2 and Off the Hook being featured in Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion. Perhaps the most well-known characters in the Splatoon series are the game's numerous idols who serve as announcers in each game. Lockers are one of the newest ways that Splatoon 3 players are able to personalize their in-game appearance and are one of the most popular forms of customization in the game's community. It all seems strange at first, but it becomes clear why that's the case when you look deeper into the characters.A fan of Splatoon 3 has made locker designs that look as if they belonged to the Splatoon series' multiple idol characters. The appreciation for these characters has reached beyond the Splatoon community as well, drawing people unfamiliar with Splatoon into the franchise. Tons of fan art and memes for the three hosts have spawned from various parts of the internet, such as this fan art featuring the Squid Sisters drawn by stupjam, or this cute and cozy drawing done by Twitter user MoonMilkii.
Needless to say, Deep Cut has gotten tons of exposure and the internet has already fallen in love with these characters. The chaotic theme fits into the designs for the trio, wearing wildly different clothing and sporting various colors. The first Splatfest in Splatoon 3 already felt like a huge festival, in contrast to the first two games' more concert-like energy.
It's a mashup of different cultures from each Deep Cut member (Shiver being Japanese, Big Man Brazilian, and Frye Indian, seemingly), resulting in an amazing song. Deep Cut's first song, Anarchy Rainbow, was a hit on YouTube, and at the time of writing is on its way to two million views.
